I was looking forward to Eternal War, the comic series by Gail Simone that recently got cancelled. I’m a big fan of her comics and think she’s one of the best writers in the industry. Sadly, this book has been canceled after only 9 issues because it didn’t sell well enough.
Gail Simone has been a high-profile writer for over two decades, but her recent comments on the upcoming Eternals movie brought out some intense fan reactions.
I was attacked by Gail Simone fans because I called her out on Eternals. They told me that I was a liar and that I had no right to say anything about the comic.
My Truth: Gail Simone fans attacked me when I called her out on Eternals.
Social
After I called out Gail Simone for her Eternals perspective, which you can see here, a swarm of enraged Gail Simone supporters assaulted me on Twitter.
Okay, I was a huge fan of the Eternals.
I’ll confess that I’m not really acquainted with the comic.
However, I enjoyed the movie. Beautiful characters, a lack of formulas, and gorgeous vistas.
I recognize that not everyone shares my viewpoint. However, I adored it.
LOVED.

In response, I said:
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA Of sure you liked representative robots with different races and genders. https://t.co/xuZbIjShyq

I mentioned this since she claims to be “not that acquainted with the comic” as a comics writer. She did, however, compliment the picture, which had a lot of characters that were switched in terms of color and gender. Makkari, the MCU’s first deaf superhero, offers even more variety to Eternals. The manner these people were presented wasn’t really accurate; it turns out they’re simply a bunch of sophisticated robots (SPOILERS!). This raises the issue of why make a deaf robot in the first place. The film was also prohibited in the Middle Eastern nations of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Qatar due to a three-second homosexual kiss scene between Phastos and his spouse.
Anyway, Gail Simone would go on to react to a slew of tweets until I got a message that said:
Imagine yourself in this situation. https://t.co/3utVjdTVQ3

I was taken aback and gasped. Isn’t it true that a prominent comic writer who paved the way for female emancipation in the medium has more important things to do than yap at people on Twitter? I’m guessing she’s in between runs right now? I had no choice but to respond:
You don’t have to since I’m this person. https://t.co/NCqjYRSe3E

She couldn’t restrain herself any longer:
“Lol?”
What the hell is going on?

Things began to pick up at this point. Twitter alerts start to pile up when someone with roughly 186,000 followers engages with you. So now I’m starting to sift through Gail Simone stans’ garbage. The high use of pronouns in biographies is troubling, but not surprising. I made the horrible error of putting Geeks + Gamers in my profile, therefore I’m clearly a toxic man-baby “incel” in need of a date. These folks are certainly projecting a lot of information. Please accept my apologies to whomever manages the Geeks + Gamers Twitter account for these slick brains tagging you in an attempt to have me terminated or whatever. But charges of being a “white supremacist” are where I draw the line. This is the extreme left’s new strategy, which includes Gail Simone’s followers. If you don’t agree with these weirdos, I believe this next meme is ideal for defining today’s political atmosphere.
Aside from the one-dimensional trash-talking and profanity, I believe the greatest comments were self-owns like this:
And you’re sobbing at a guy who is ostensibly crying at a character from a comic book. Who’s the larger knucklehead? https://t.co/SUr5OG5yyg

And, as I was working out, someone were worried about my spelling on Twitter:
Sorry for the inconvenience, brother. I was in the middle of a set of deadlifts that had burned me out. When I burn your ass next, I’ll make sure to spell properly https://t.co/sx5S2wCK8H

But this one has to be my fave. I never indicated I desired an all-white male cast, as the poster alleges. They don’t even know what ethnicity the characters were before the movie switched them. Regardless, they were sobbing to me on Twitter about it. Hint: Kingo was born in Japan and is now Pakistani, not white.
You stupid fuck, Kingo was born in Japan. https://t.co/knK5nA5Az2

These blue checkmark, pronouns-in-bio losers’ prejudice and projection are stunning. This following She/Her, as you’ll see, claims that white isn’t even a race:
Does the fact that Black Panther and Blade are both black qualify as lore? Is it okay if we make them white right now? https://t.co/3A8xC7FjdR
November 8, 2021 — Lyndon Hall (@L Hall91)
So, because white isn’t a race, it’s OK to be racist against white people. According to Twitter’s blue checkmark pronouns. https://t.co/C3ZfwVrUKc

You’re a racist, so that’s OK https://t.co/2Di1yafFwE

When he grandstanded about purchasing Eternals issue #1 when he was a kid, Deadpool co-creator Fabian Nicieza apparently believed he made an amazing takedown of me.
Does it make sense to you that a race of super-beings being planted around the earth should represent the civilizations into which they are being seeded?
When I was 14 years old, I purchased Eternals #1 and believed Kirby had blown it! How old were you at the time?
November 7, 2021 — Fabian Nicieza (@FabianNicieza)
He also defended the movie, stating that a race of super-beings should be representative of the civilizations of the planet they are planting. It’s a reasonable point, but it’s not mentioned in the movie that this is the basis for the Eternals’ genders or races. And, after a few tweets, Fabian reveals that he hasn’t even watched the movie, rendering his criticism moot.
I’m not defending the show (or the film, which I have yet to watch). I didn’t enjoy Eternals at the time, and I still don’t like it after rereading it a few weeks ago. I’ve always admired his creativity and bizarre graphics, but as a youngster and again as an adult, I never thought the series was complete.

He goes on to claim that he didn’t like the Eternals comic when he first read it. As a result, the high ground he thought he’d gained with his first pretentious Tweet crumbled in a stunning self-own.
The lesson of the tale, kids, is that Twitter isn’t a place for reasonable debate or cogent arguments, but rather for a lot of ranting and name-calling. If you ever find yourself in a scenario like mine, simply remember not to take the criticism too seriously.
Also, thank you to everyone who stood up for me on Twitter and rebutted the lefty comics’ nonsense; you are all immensely appreciated.
